Sommer Pa Soenderstrand

Gl. Skagen/Højen

Here we are by the North Sea, which can be harsh at times. Here at the beach you can enjoy the always beautiful sunset. There is a tradition of gathering at the Sunset Square to watch the sun set over Skagen. It's an experience you shouldn't miss out on.

Of course, you shouldn't miss out on a swim in the blue waves either in the form of a morning dip to give you the best possible start to the day, or sunbathing and a few dips during the day.

The beach is largely frequented by guests at the hotels in Gl. Skagen, but everyone is welcome.

Skagen Sønderstrand

Skagen Sønderstrand is perhaps the best known of the beaches in Skagen. It has the Blue Flag. It is child-friendly and close to the town. Cars are not allowed on the beach.

This is where the Skagen painters found their inspiration for their famous paintings. It is also at Skagen Sønderstrand that you can experience the big bonfire being lit every year at St Hans.

There are paths between the dunes for wheelchairs and prams.

Dam sites

The beach at Damstederne has the Blue Flag, which is an eco-labelling scheme that ensures and guarantees that the beach works to preserve nature and the environment.

The Blue Flag is your guarantee of a high standard when it comes to water quality, environment and safety.

Damstederne is an incredibly beautiful beach, and in fact it was here that P.S. Krøyer painted his famous painting "The Ladies on the Beach".

North beach

A beautiful beach in the far north.

In fact, this - and not Grenen - is the northernmost point in Denmark. Grenen turns eastwards and is not - as many believe - the northernmost point in Denmark. Nordstrand is thus located further north than Grenen.
