It is nothing less than Denmark's largest hiking dune, and it's not far from Skagen. The landscape is breathtaking and if you didn't know better, you'd think you were walking in the Sahara desert. There is sand as far as the eye can see.
Råbjerg Mile is a natural phenomenon that is constantly changing. The wandering dune - as the name suggests - migrates 15 metres to the northeast every year, which will probably mean that the road from Frederikshavn to Skagen will be completely covered in sand in between 100 and 200 years. At the same time, the trees that were previously covered in sand will come into view and rise out of the sand when the drifting dune has "migrated" past them.
