It's often said that there's something special about the light in Skagen. We've heard about it since the Skagen painters painted their impressive works in the town back in the day.
There may well be something to it. The two seas, Kattegat and Skagerrak, are known to collide at the top of Denmark. This creates water vapour, and many believe that it is when the sun shines through this vapour that the light takes on a very special glow.

Skagen has plenty to offer, also when it comes to dining experiences.
You can enjoy fish dishes with fresh ingredients from the two seas at, for example, Skagen's Fiskerestaurant, and you can enjoy gourmet at some of North Jutland's very best restaurants such as Ruths Hotel and Brøndums Hotel.
Whatever your appetite, you can satisfy it in Skagen.
There are plenty of sights in Skagen, and you'll struggle to do it all in a single day. Take, for example, a few of those created by nature; Grenen, Råbjerg Mile, and the The Sand-Covered Church
The same can be said for the works of the famous Skagen painters, which can be experienced at Skagens Museum, Drachmanns Hus and Anchers Hus.
You can also visit the marina, which in summer exudes a real holiday atmosphere. Experience the breathtaking view from Skagen Graa Fyr lighthouse or see Skagen's Vippefyr, one of the city's famous landmarks.

Grenen is probably one of the most popular destinations for many of the tourists who visit Skagen every year.

Råbjerg Mile is yet another example of what the forces of nature are capable of achieving.

Skagen has long been known for the Skagen Painters and their impressive works, which were created with inspiration from the unique nature and light found in Skagen.

As with many other attractions and sights in Skagen, the forces of nature have also played a major role at the The Sand-Covered Church

The very recognisable yellow colour found on the houses in Skagen and the red tiled roof tiles is something many people associate with the town at the top of Denmark.

The original lighthouse, which was the very first of its kind in Denmark, was built in 1627 and lasted until the 1700s. Since then, a faithful copy has been built, which now stands in exactly the same place as the original.
